Homecoming Shoe Hunt

I got asked to Homecoming in mid-September. I already had a dress in mind, and got it (pictures to come!) right after I was asked. But up until now, I haven't given any thought to my shoes. And then it hit me that I have exactly a week until I need these shoes. Oops.

My dress is just a little bit outrageous, so I figured a pair of understated shoes would be best. I knew I wanted a heel, and I knew that if I was going to make my dress work, I couldn't distract from it at all. Nude pumps. Simple, minimal or no embellishment, no bells and whistles. Perfect, right?

Problem is, there are so many nude pumps out there that come close but don't quite fit exactly what I want. And I'm not stopping until I find the perfect shoe.

Here's what I've looked at so far:

These shoes would actually be perfect for me. The crystal detailing on the heel is just subtle enough, the color is perfect, and I love that there's a platform to make them more comfortable. But they're almost $2,000. That's pretty much an automatic no.

I really like these. The T-strap is unexpected, and the closed toe would mean that I didn't have to bother with choosing colors for a pedicure. The only thing I don't like is that the platform isn't hidden, but maybe that's my own weird thing. These are definitely a contender.

These are adorable. But the backs of my ankles are super prone to blisters, and the slingback just might tear them apart. Reading the reviews, it seems that the consensus is that the shoes are a lot pinker in person. Considering the color is called "Blush Nubuck," I'm going to bet it is quite a bit more pink than I want it.

I love all of Jessica Simpson's shoes. I actually have since I was maybe 9 or 10 and I first saw a pair of black peep-toe pumps of hers in a department store. I wanted those shoes so bad. I'm kind of feeling like that now too, considering this shoe is almost perfect. And it has the hidden platform that's so very important to me.

These are really similar to the previous pair, with a lower heel and a lighter color. If I were to choose between the two pair of Jessica Simpsons on this post, I'd go with the other ones. Decision made. This one's out of the running.

I. Love. These. Hidden Platform? Check. Right color? Check. Patent leather? Yep. And now that I think about it, I really wouldn't mind picking a nail polish color for my pedicure, considering I'll be getting a manicure anyway. These are for sure a top contender.

Right now, the last pair and the first Jessica Simpson pair are my favorites. Both fit my vision of the shoe that I want to wear. As much as I love the T-strap, I'm afraid that, even though it's nude, it'll disrupt the line. And I absolutely don't want to distract from my dress. It'll come down to those two, and price isn't an issue, since both are under $100 and only ten dollars apart. But I really do like both. What do y'all think? Peep-toe or no?

  1. I got a pair of nude platforms for the dance! Great minds think alike. I think either one would look great, honestly!
