Throw Some Glitter

In honor of the dress I was originally going to wear to Homecoming:

This is the dress that I keep mentioning. I love it, it fits great, I was so excited to wear it, but I'm not going to. I found another dress that I like just as much, and I wouldn't really have another occasion on which to wear it. So I'll be saving this dress for a later date.

But there's something about sequins that I absolutely love. Maybe it's knowing that they're super fun and flashy and that many people shy away from them. But I say embrace the sparkle and shine!!

This sweater is a great way to wear sequins during the day. The sequin and stripes combination is unexpected, yet subtle and effortlessly chic. And who doesn't love a great sweater?

Love this. Enough said.

It's a classic with a nice little twist that pushes the envelope just enough.

Sequins and stripes. My new favorite combination.

This skirt is capital-F flawless.

Sequins on shorts are so unexpected and bold, so keep the rest of the outfit simple. I love how these shorts have been styled here. If it's cold out, pull on some black tights under the shorts. They'll keep your legs warm(er!) and keep the glitter in check.

Technically not sequins, but I love this nail polish from OPI:

OPI "Designer...De Better" from the Muppet Collection

It's the color I'm wearing to Homecoming this weekend too! I absolutely love it. It's possibly the most perfect metallic nail polish I've found so far, and right on trend this fall.

The secret to making sequins work is by putting them on a classic silhouette, like a pencil skirt. I like all-over sequins the best, but a well placed sequined accent, like a stripe pattern, also works wonders. As I mentioned before, with a sequined top or bottom, keep the rest of the outfit very simple. One of the best things about wearing sequins is that you don't even have to worry about jewelry, the clothes do it for you!

And in other news, the results of my Homecoming Shoe Hunt!

I'll be wearing the peep-toe pumps that made my top two. I picked them up from Nordstrom yesterday, and I absolutely love them! They're really high, but the platform makes them super comfortable and easy to walk in. It was when I was picking up the shoes that I saw my gorgeous new dress! I'll put up pictures towards the end of the day Sunday when I get back from my Homecoming Weekend adventures!
