Current Obsession: Crossbody Bags

I love purses. I'm notorious amongst my friends for my totes and satchels, which tend to range in size from large to oh-my-goodness-you-can-fit-a-house-in-there sized (see the LL Bean Boat & Tote in Extra Large if you really need to see what I'm talking about). But sometimes, something a bit smaller is in order. Enter the crossbody bag. Generally they tend to run smaller, but you can get a crossbody bag in pretty much any size. And being hands free is so convenient, especially when you're in the city or at a party!

Clockwise from top left:

My favorite out of all of these is definitely the Kate Spade "Dixon Place Scout" crossbody (top left and second on the right)! I just had to put it in twice, the colors were just too perfect to choose from, and it's the perfect size! The Steve Madden one is very similar to the Kate Spade, but it comes in all sorts of fun, trendy colors and is a lot less expensive!!

Are you loving crossbody bags too?

Official Obsession: Turquoise

Ever since Essie's Turquoise and Caicos polish made its way onto my nails two weeks ago, I've been drawn to anything and everything turquoise in color. Something about this shade of blue-green just screams summer to me. Scream away.

I love this dress simply because of all the potential it has. I could see myself throwing this on over a bikini to head to the beach, or dressing it up with a cute necklace and some wedges and going out or to a party. And you gotta love Nordstrom prices. $39? Sold.

And speaking of bikinis, how about this one from Victoria's Secret? I'm lovin' the dots!

This Lilly cuff is at the very top of my jewelry must-have list. I don't think I even have anymore to say, I'll let this one speak for itself.

I Am Officially Obsessed with Friday Night Lights

For years, I listened to one of my friends go on and on every day at lunch about this show. Every Thursday, it was "Did you see Friday Night Lights?" None of us watched it except one other girl, and each Wednesday we engaged ourselves in separate conversations as they spent the better part of the period as they analyzed last night's episode, discussing plot points and their reactions to individual characters' storylines. I always wondered what the show was really about, but I had never paid too much attention to their discussions to figure out what had gone on.

Now, last Friday, as I perused the racks of my local video rental store, a familiar title caught my eye. The complete first season of Friday Night Lights. Five discs for five nights for a mere three dollars. So I thought, "What the heck?" and brought it home with a pint of Rocky Road. I sat down on my couch, popped it in, and not a minute into the very first episode, I was hooked.

I'm not going to give away much about the show, just to make sure it isn't ruined if y'all haven't seen it. But my favorite part of the show by far is Minka Kelly's portrayal of Lyla Garrity, cheerleading captain and girlfriend of the small town high school football team's quarterback. Stereotypical? At first glance.

However, Kelly made her character totally three dimensional and believable. Lyla is smart, witty, and totally wholesome (for the most part. Hey, everyone makes mistakes!), opposite of the stuck-up dumb blonde with less than stellar morals that cheerleaders and members of high school dance teams are so often portrayed as on TV. Add to that the fact that everything is done in adorable sundresses, tops, and wedges, when she's not in her Panthers cheerleading uniform, completed with an ever preppy polka dotted bow. And that, my friends, is definitely something to cheer about.
