Friday Five

1. I am literally obsessed, crazy, head over heels in love with Miley Cyrus' new song "We Can't Stop."

2. Also obsessed with these printed chino shorts from J.Crew!

The print totally reminds me of The Great Gatsby poster.

3. I saw The Purge the other night. The concept of a night where all crime is legal keeping society in check intrigued me in a somewhat weird, twisted way, so I got my boyfriend to take me. I do not do scary movies. I'm awful at them. I'm a baby. But this wasn't that bad, even though it was a bit cheesy and did creep me out.

4. The night after The Purge, I saw The Internship, which I really enjoyed! The storyline was so adorable, I was laughing out loud the whole time, and Owen Wilson is such a charmer.

5. I just finished my second book of the summer, Bossypants by Tina Fey.

She is truly hilarious and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one.

Friday Five

1. I'm officially a senior!!! It's crazy insane, but it feels so good!

2. We had perfect weather today, so of course I took at advantage of it and laid out for a solid three hours. Can you say addicted to sun?

3. How perfect is this watch from Kate Spade? I think I just need it.

4. J.Crew is having a fantastic sale–25% off everything! Use the code SUMMER. How I wish I hadn't just gone shopping!

5. And speaking of J.Crew, how fun are these shorts? This print is all over their latest collection and just screams summer.

Friday Five

1. Boy, am I glad this week is over! I've always said it, but the week before final exams is way more stressful than the actual finals week. But good news: only one more day of class and four exams and my junior year is officially over!

2. Let's add remembering to drop things off at the drycleaners to the list of things I'm awful at. The dress I borrowed for prom has been hanging in my closet for two weeks now. Oops.

3. Swooning over Tiffany's Great Gatsby collection, mainly Daisy's gorgeous headpiece.

It goes for a cool two hundred grand. Please, Daddy?

Kidding. Kind of.

4. I'm looking for books to read this summer! Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!

5. Speaking of summer, as of last week, I am a certified lifeguard and will be substitute guarding at a local country club pool. It's my first "real" job and I am actually super excited!

Friday Five

1. The Lilly summer collection is perfect. I have no words. Actually, I have a few, and they'll be in a post coming up next week!

2. It's finally May, aka the beginning of spring and one of my favorite months! I'm excited for some gorgeous weather coming our way and finally being able to wear all of my favorite sundresses and shorts.

3. I have found the perfect lipstick from Tarte Cosmetics. The Pure color is the perfect "your lips but better" shade that can be worn morning to night and it goes on so smoothly and stays on! I hardly ever reapply after I do my make-up in the morning and that's only because I'm a little OCD about always having my lips freshly done, but it's never really necessary!!

And how pretty is that tube?

4. Next week is crazy. Two AP Exams, my last round of Poms tryouts, and my school's Spring Fling concert are packing it. But this is why I love May; there's always something going on!

5. And finally, my most important bit of news. I met with my Poms coach today, and after three years on the varsity squad and lots of hard work, I'm going to be a captain next year, along with two of my best friends! I'm thrilled and excited and completely overjoyed. This has been a goal of mine since freshman year and I feel like all of my hard work is paying off. It's such an honor, and I can't wait for next season to start!!

Friday Five

1. Yikes to the fact that I've only done one real post between this post and my last Friday Five.

1.5. Because that wasn't a real fact, I'd like to share that today I was told by one of my guy friends that he "didn't know Elle Woods was celebrating St. Patrick's Day." My outfit? 

I guess he had a point.

2. Today we had executive board elections for Student Council. It was a close race, but unfortunately I did not end up being elected for my dream post of Executive VP. While I'm not particularly happy, I'm taking it all in stride, because I know that God has a great plan for my senior year. I trust that the elected Executive Board will do a great job next year. Campaigning this week and gaining so much support from the entire school was such an incredible experience and I will definitely be running for one of the Senior Class Board offices!

3. I'm obsessed with this wallet from Kate Spade.

4. I'm still in love with Hoodie Allen's second album, Crew Cuts.

Friday Five

1. I made it into my school's production of West Side Story as a dancer!! So so so excited for this!

2. Today I chaperoned a field trip of freshmen to a smaller, less fortunate Catholic school. The trip was open to the entire freshman class at my school, who visited various schools with less funding and resources to read and encourage literacy and learning. It filled me with such joy to see how much the kids on both sides enjoyed themselves. At the end of our time there, no one wanted us to leave and it was definitely hard to go!

3. I'm running for next year's Student Body Vice President! After two years on class boards and a year on Student Council, I can't wait to serve on the Executive Board. My campaigning is in full force–elections are next Friday!

One of my friends decided to run for president, so of course we are campaigning together! How cute are these frockets we designed?

4. I have a huge research paper for APUSH due in less than two weeks on the influence of Jackie Kennedy on fashion. Such a typical topic for me, right? And so typical that my procrastination on this huge paper is at a high. I'll be working hard on it tomorrow!!

5. Sometimes you need to just take a night to relax. Earlier this evening, I attended my best friend's birthday dinner at one of our town's country clubs, but I unfortunately had to leave early to go to a babysitting job I had booked previously. Turns out, unwinding while the kids are asleep is just the perfect thing for me! I've been watching the Blackhawks game and getting a headstart on homework, thank goodness.

Friday Five

1. My apologies for the lack of posts recently. I'm still catching up on things from Nationals (I'm almost done!) and I'm trying to get everything together and under control. But I will be posting more in the near future and scheduling a few posts to keep myself current.

2. My Turnabout dress shipped yesterday! It wasn't supposed to ship til the 18th, so I'm super excited for it!!

3. As many of y'all know, I've been writing for the Smart Girls Guide since April of last year, which has been incredible for me. I loved writing the Organization of the Month column and had so much fun researching new charities and organizations that worked to make the world a better place. But when Emily, our Smarts Starter, offered me the chance to move over to writing the style column, I jumped at the offer! Our February issue is out now and you can check out my article on getting over your second semester style slump!!

4. I had a fantastic Valentine's Day yesterday! At my school, student council sells individual carnations in the days leading up to the 14th. You can buy them for one dollar and send them to anyone's first period class that morning. I got so many thoughtful carnations from my great friends!

My sweet boyfriend also got me a gorgeous bouquet of roses that he gave to me when we were out last night! They're absolutely gorgeous.

5. I'm currently completely obsessed with Bruno Mars' album, Unorthodox Jukebox. My favorite tracks are definitely "Moonshine," "When I Was Your Man," and "Natalie."

Friday Five

1. I'm currently dancing at the state dance team competition! Prelims are today and if we rank in the top ten by the end of the night, we'll be dancing at finals tomorrow!

2. Dry shampoo is my new lifesaver. I've been using a volumizing kind from TRESemmé and it has changed my life.

3. I've found a dress for the Turnabout dance in March! I'm borrowing it from a friend and I don't want to say too much about it...but it's pink!

It's also super body-con, which brings me to my next item...

4. I've decided that after Nationals, I'll be going on a cleanse. I wanted to do one as a New Year's Resolution, but January is such a stressful time for me already with finals and being in the full swing of competition season that it just wouldn't be healthy or safe. The last half of February is pretty mellow though, and it's right before Turnabout, the Poms Fashion Show, Spring Break....basically perfect timing. I'm definitely planning on posting extensively about my experience on the cleanse.

5. Less than a week (six days!!!!) until Nationals. The next Friday Five will be posted from DisneyWorld! WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Friday Five

It's still Friday, no?

1. As of yesterday, I am completely done with my first semester finals! Now I'm just sitting, waiting, and wishing (Jack Johnson, anyone?) on my grades but I'm so happy to have this semester over with and start fresh next week.

2. I have lived in leggings, button downs, and boots these past two weeks. I'm a bum. Sorry y'all.

3. I got Ray-Ban wayfarers for Christmas and I don't think I've loved a pair of sunglasses more. Where have these been all my life?

4. I bought my pass for the Country Thunder music festival in Wisconsin this morning, which turned out to be perfect timing. This afternoon, the festival released a statement saying that they were completely sold out of four-day passes and won't be selling single day passes online. Lucky me!! 

5. 13 days until Nationals!!!

Friday Five

1. Three weeks until Nationals. I can't even tell you how excited I am.

2. I am obsessed with this song. And this one. They've both been on repeat in my house for the past week. I think I might have a problem.

3. Along the lines of me having problems, finals are just around the corner! Stress is surprisingly not too high, even though I have to totally ace most of these exams. Fingers crossed, books out.

4. Is it bad that I'm already starting to think about dresses for the Turnabout dance that isn't til March? Oh well...I'm currently obsessed with this one; it's so different from anything else I've worn to a dance! We'll see how it turns out...I have a feeling that I may be a little short for it!

5. Last weekend I blew out another hair dryer. I was so sad, because I loved that one and I had only bought it in November! Luckily, the company has a great warranty and exchange policy and they agreed to waive the shipping on the return and send me a new one!

Friday Five

My first post of 2013! As part of my resolution to be a better blogger, I figured that doing a Friday Five would be a good way to keep myself posting more consistently.

1. Last week I said RIP to my trusty riding boots from freshman year. Sad, I know, but it was about time for them to go. This morning, I ordered these beauties from Frye!!

I've been wanting these for so long and I can't wait for them to come in!

2. Lifeguard Press is having a huge sale on all their Lilly items through midnight tonight. If I wasn't all stocked up, I'd be taking full advantage of this one. 

3. Today marks the start of my final weekend of winter break, aka time to start doing all the work my lovely AP teachers assigned us over break and to start studying for my final exams in two weeks. Wonderful, no? I'm heading over to the library today to work on an essay and some notecards due the Tuesday I get back.

4. After dropping my phone so many times, my favorite case is chipped and breaking. I'm in the market for a new case, but I'm having such a hard time deciding! Vineyard Vines vs. Southern Proper vs. Kate Spade....oh my.

5. It's exactly four weeks until I'm headed down to DisneyWorld for the UDA National Dance Team Championship!! I had such a great time last year, and am so so so excited to make some more fabulous memories with my team.
