I Wanted to Write About Summer Sales...

But I honestly just wasn't feeling it. But I did want to show y'all this super cute top I picked up the other day (ON SALE). It's from Stella + Grace, this adorable little boutique by my house that has some really good finds every now and then. (Seriously, if you ever find yourself on the North Shore, this place is worth checking out, even just to browse for inspiration.)

And the back, aka my favorite part.

I love the look of the crocheted/woven back on a top, and I this one strikes the perfect balance between too trendy and perfectly preppy. I wore it with J. Crew's 3" Chino Shorts in Stone and my favorite Sperry Top-Siders.

The trick to keeping a very trendy item like this top true to your preppy roots is all in what it's paired with. Chino shorts and boat shoes are great, and these tops make for fantastic coverups at the beach or pool, but a pair of frayed denim cutoffs with stilettos doesn't come off as classy, let alone preppy.
