My Agenda

I pride myself on organization, but let's face it, I slip up sometimes. Between school, dance, friends, and blogging, my life gets pretty hectic. So many places to be, things to do, people to talk to, blog posts, essays, and articles to write, and on top of that I need to keep my sanity?? Whew. Before I continue, let's all just take a deep breath.

That's better.

Even as I write this blog post, I have a million things going on. I'm on the elliptical, for starters. I just finished writing my speech for student council elections, and I've got my latest iTunes playlist on in the background.

On an average day, I've got school, Poms practice, homework, dance, more homework, and blogging to balance. Poms and dance both go pretty much year round, and my courseload is mostly honors. Next year, it'll be mostly AP. Just yesterday, I was interviewed for my school's TV station, and one of the main things we talked about was balancing everything. So I'm sure y'all are dying to know, how did I answer the age old question, asked with a nervous tinge and  a slight wince:

"How do you do it?"

And the honest to goodness answer is my Lilly Pulitzer agenda.

How cute are the sailboats??

I've used an agenda since sixth grade. Yes, I was that girl. I am still that girl. The one who would not, could not, in a million years just use the school issued assignment notebook for the sole reason that it's too small. Too small in size to be found easily in my huge tote and too small in terms of space for both my huge handwriting and the amount of things that absolutely must, without fail, be written in. And let's face it, there are so many cuter options!

Everything that goes into my agenda is color coded, and I choose the colors based on what fits best with the agenda's color scheme for the month. I told you, I'm that girl. Homework assignments are written in one color, events I need to be at (including practices, sporting events, dinners out, and meetings) are in another color, reminders to work out in yet another color, and blogging/writing and "extras" each get another color. I define "extras" as anything that wouldn't normally appear in my planner or daily life, like tests to be made up or field trips. I write my homework assignments in the order that my classes are scheduled (i.e.: First Period gets the first line, Second Period gets the second, and so on).

Since we're only midway through the week, only the left side is filled up!

I'm super picky about how my agenda is organized, but it makes things so much easier! Knowing exactly what I need to do and where I need to be straightens out my busy schedule and allows me to break things down into manageable chunks. Of course, there are still late nights, but that's to be expected!

I've been using a Lilly agenda for the last two years, and I absolutely love it! They come in the cutest prints and each page has absolutely adorable designs. It's also the perfect size, I never have to search for it in my bag, but it's not so big that I can't easily fit it in a bag smaller than my gigantic LL Bean tote for school.

If I wasn't so attached to my Lilly agenda, I'd definitely want to try one of these!

All through junior high, I used a Franklin Covey agenda like this one. What I like about the Franklin Covey system is that it allows you to choose exactly what type of format you want on the pages, but having to find the same type of refills every year was a little bit of a hassle.

The personalized covers on the Erin Condren agendas are just too cute, but they are a bit pricey.

If I were to switch agendas, it would most likely be to one from May Books. The covers are fully customizable...and can be monogrammed!! Here's the cover of a planner I designed with my monogram!

How do you organize your life?

101st Post!!

What with my post for Easter yesterday, I didn't even realize that I'd hit my 100th post!! So today, I'm celebrating my 101st post! When I started this blog last June, I had no idea how it would go over or if I'd even like blogging. But I absolutely love it and am so thankful to all of my lovely followers and everyone who reads the blog, even if you don't follow it with Google Friend Connect.

Blogging has brought so many new opportunities to me (hello, The Smart Girls Group!!) and has introduced me to so many great fellow bloggers that I would have never known of had I not started blogging. Thank you to all of you bloggers who I reached out to in the very early days of North Shore Prep who so willingly gave me advice. I wouldn't have known where to begin without your support and expertise.

PS: If you already follow North Shore Prep here, be sure to check out my Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Goodreads!!

Little White Dress

Spring is here!! Meaning we'll soon be seeing a lot of fun, bright colors, as well as the return of white! A white dress is just as versatile as an LBD, but much better suited to warm weather and will pop against your sun-kissed skin!

I'm slightly obsessed with the Lilly Pulitzer White Dress Collection.

The Franco has an absolutely darling tie-back!

What can I say? I have a soft spot for adorable halter dresses.

Other white dresses I love:

Swing On By Dress from Lulu's

Possibly Maybe Dress from Lulu's

Are you looking forward to white dress season too?

ALSO, did any of y'all get lucky at the Lilly Pulitzer sale today on Rue La La?? Unfortunately, I was in class today and missed the start, but I did put in a "Still Want It?" request for the absolutely adorable Worth Shift.

It would be a total steal at only $69.90!! Hopefully, the great folks at Rue La La will be able to get their hands on one in my size and I'll soon be unwrapping my long-awaited very first Lilly dress!!

Head Candy

Y'all already know how much I love my bows. I have more bows than I know what I should do with. Little bows, big bows, solid bows, printed bows....I even have a bow with rhinestones! Recently though, I've been expanding my hair accessory collection to include some new headbands, which is why I was so happy when I came across franceluxe.com!

The website has what feels like a million different headbands, some more classic, some a little more out there, but each one is truly a work of art.

Since there are so many products on the website, I pulled a few of my personal favorites to share with you.

The simplicity of this one is the perfect final touch to really tying a look together.

I saw this headband on Blair in an episode of Gossip Girl, loved it, and was thrilled to find it here! It's impossible to choose which color I like it in best–there are so many options!

Simply charming.

I gave some of these to a friend as a Christmas present and she loves them. They're just so comfortable and easy to wear with anything.

I adore the stripes on this headwrap. It's so versatile too! I could see myself wearing this anywhere from class to the gym to the pool.

Probably my favorite headband out of all of these (though it's so hard to choose....), this one just screams summer to me. The simple stripes and candy hues bring to mind images of lemonade on the front porch and playing on the beach.

Books of My Month: March

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
I'd been reading this for English class this quarter and we finally finished in early March. I'll admit, it was wonderfully written, but I definitely had some built up resentment from having to read it. I do think it's good though, to brush up on your classic literature, even if it is required reading!

The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder by Rebecca Wells
Loved this. Loved it, loved it, loved it! I laughed, I cried, and thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic novel. I definitely, definitely recommend it.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
I finally got my hands on the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy, and I wasn't disappointed. Oftentimes, I find that with all the anticipation and excitement of a series like this, the final book just sort of drops off, but that was not the case at all here. I loved it just as much as The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, but I was so sad to be finished with it!

What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen
Eh. I loved Sarah Dessen all through junior high, and hadn't read anything of hers in two years. I wasn't expecting it to be spectacular, but reading one of Dessen's books through a more mature, sophisticated lens definitely changed my memory of her as a writer. Which is a bit of a shame.

Yankee Doodle Dixie by Lisa Patton
This book was just darling! I picked it up at the library from the new fiction shelf because of the cute peaches on the front and it turned out to be a perfect spring break read. It was charming, and funny, and sassy, and I absolutely loved it. I'll definitely be putting Patton's Whistlin' Dixie in a Nor'Easter on my reading list for April!!
