Kairos XXXVI

Ah, junior year. Full of stress, despair, and never ending mountains of school work. It's so important to take time out to stay sane though, and that's why, as AP Exams approach, along with Poms tryouts and finals, I chose to go on a Kairos retreat. This past weekend was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I met so many amazing people I never would have met if I hadn't gone.

{all the retreatants and leaders....can you spot me?}

For those of y'all who don't know, Kairos is a spiritual retreat for juniors and seniors in high school. The word "Kairos" is Greek for "God's time," and the retreat is meant to strengthen the faith of young adults in a pivotal time in their lives. I can definitely say that it has done this for me.

{my INCREDIBLE small group!}

I can't even describe to you the power that Kairos has on every single attendee. It's a truly beautiful way to see God's love in action in your peers' lives and your own.

Live the Fourth!

hey y'all.

I've neglected this little blog lately, now haven't I? I admit, it has definitely fallen by the wayside these past few weeks. Junior Spring is hard, y'all. I'm so swamped with schoolwork, finding a summer job, going on college visits, and trying to maintain some semblance of a social life and sanity that I have definitely pushed my blog to the back burner. But what's great is that I have some awesome posts brainstormed for y'all that I promise will be written in a somewhat timely fashion. Thanks for not abandoning me:)

General life updates, as well as a post about my visit to the University of Alabama and Louisiana State University will be posted soon. Til then, keep up with me via Twitter and Instagram.

(I'd say Pinterest and Tumblr too, but unfortunately I'm so sporadic with those lately too.)

What I Read: Nice Is Just A Place In France

Who reads Betches Love This? It's a total guilty pleasure of mine. I follow them on Twitter and I'm always checking the website for new posts. I think I've read every post on The Betch List at least twice, and I crack up every time. So relatable. Like White Girl Problems taken to the absolute extreme. Is it bad that as I read, I find myself nodding and going "Yes, this is my life!"

So of course when I saw that The Betches were releasing a book, I was all over it. I drove to three different bookstores (two Barnes and Nobles and one local book shop) last Saturday–as in, the first day of my spring break–in pursuit. Sold out. I ordered it, lamented the fact that it wouldn't get to my house until Friday, and thought about how hard my life was.

And for those of y'all who were wondering, no I did not set up that background, thankyouverymuch. I can't help it that sometimes my desk looks fabulous ;)

Turns out, the book being delivered on Friday made no difference. I finished it Sunday morning. All three hundred plus pages in all its sarcastic, betchy glory. I laughed the entire time, and I even annotated! Well not really, I just underlined the sentences that particularly stuck out to me, but still. Do you even know how heinous annotating is? Super heinous and on the top of my academic WYDEL (Betch for "Wish You Didn't Exist List").

I highly recommend this to all of y'all for a light, fun read. It's described as "how to deal with your problems when you have no problems." Perfect, no? Some of it's a little out of my comfort zone, but it was super entertaining nonetheless.

My little copy is now being passed around to all my besties. Order yours here.

Seriously, you won't regret it.
